Progress is not a straight line, there are bumps, twists and plateaus, but if you only fear failing you will never know what you could do. I understand that it’s easier said than done, knowing that it’s natural to make mistakes and being able to get up and keep going when you have is something more.
Any one can make a mistake but only the courageous can get up and try again.

It does not matter that you stumble, it is the right of humans to make mistakes. But it is also the privilege of humans to learn from them.

If all you ever do, is what you’ve always done, how can you be anything other than what you’ve always been? If you want to experience great change in your life, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, personally or professionally, you must be willing to make changes.

Never underestimate the power of helping others and the positive impact that can have on yourself, it is priceless.

No matter whether others can see it, the work and struggles you put in are there. Every goal and dream and project takes work to create it.

Wishes can grow from anywhere, they just need to find the right sunlight.

Finding those moments of everyday magic. They make me smile.

Sometimes you can't see the moment in the big picture but know that it is there, connected and moving to create something new.

I find having someone to bounce ideas off of the most beneficial part of a creative process. Vocalising ideas and thought processes can really uncover things you have over looked or even lead you down new avenues all together.

Everyone who has every truly been great, at some point I'm sure must have thought 'they're mad'. But to challenge the norm, to find the new, the great, the bold, you must be a little mad in order to succeed.

Time is a funny thing. It's constantly in motion and while we can live within a moment we cannot hold onto it. Decide how you want to use your time, understand that time spent or wasted can't be reclaimed, and enjoy the journey as much as the destination. You may never know the impact of your actions on other people, whether that little message to check in on a friend, a comforting hug or just by showing up. Our actions have impact so let's make sure we can make the best and biggest impact.

Whether you want to learn something new, work on self improvement or improve a skill; to create change something has to change. It doesn't need to be a big change, even small changes have big ripples. So set a goal, set your alarm earlier to have a moment of movement before you start your day, or do at home stretches to increase flexibility.

Creativity is a pure form of expression. Sharing that creativity communicates who we are.

You may never know the impact of your actions on other people, whether that little message to check in on a friend, a comforting hug or just by showing up. Our actions have impact so let's make sure we can make the best and biggest impact.

Don't get me wrong, time management is important but I am still learning boundary management. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the excitement of a new challenge or project that I let the boundaries slide and end up giving up too much of my time and energy. Owning Dance•Stance•Advance is incredibly exciting for me but I can see now more than ever how important it is to create and enforce boundaries.

Recently I feel within dance we see series and films and social media that shows being taught something, a few practices and suddenly the finished work. Editing out the effort and work that goes in to create progress. I understand it's for a viewing purpose but what we don't see is really the part that matters. Being taught something is just the first step, you can be guided and inspired and helped by your teacher but unless you put in the effort as well you won't see transformation.

Projects and ideas that have lived only in a notebook for a long time are starting to come to life. With Adult Tap and BALLET•Bility show routines nearly finished ready for filming, Workshops started and costumes starting to be made or ordered the office and workroom are being to look a mess but I can honestly say that all the work is worth it.

New beginnings always hold so much hope, excitement and promise. With a new Academic Year, a new Term, a new Name and a new Principal there is definitely some magic in the air.

We started our Irish Show Dance and Classical Greek Workshop routines yesterday for our next show and looking forward to a week full of classes!

I also start this term having now completed four Level 4 Diplomas in Dance Education in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Tap Dance and Classical Greek.

Something doesn't have to be broken to be fixed. It is within human nature to grow, evolve and change over time. We are naturally curious and look for new ideas, the challenge comes with accepting change from traditions or routines. Something may have been working for you for years, doesn't mean there isn't a better way to do it.

You cannot always control what happens to you; what you can control is how to react to it. Choose the path that brings you the most peace, the most joy, the most growth.

Making memories with family and friends is one of the great joys in life. I have recently been able to attend quite a few family weddings and if there's ever a reason to smile it's when celebreating people's love for each other.

January has felt so very long this year yet I've felt like I've been in a constant state of catch-up. Sometimes you've just got to step back and look at what you're aiming for, it may take a while but when you're building something you love and building a life you love it's better to get it right than to get it fast.

This particular quote doesn't need any explanation but I have to say it rings so true for me. For anyone who knows me if I get an idea in my head I will find a way to make it happen, but I need to learn that I can't do everything all the time and when my plate is already full it's okay to stop saying yes to things. Sometimes I find it hard to put the to-do list down and let myself enjoy what I have accomplished so far without the worries of what I hope to do next.

Do what works for you! As true for activities as it is for food. Every body is different and every body's needs are unique, what works for someone else may not work for you. Understanding nutrition can give you guidelines and an better understanding of what your body needs but it's also a process of getting to know, listen to and understand your body.

After 10 years of teaching I am always learning and looking for ways to improve.
I have been working to improve the quality of my teaching and the experience I can provide to people. At the end of last year I took and passed my ISTD Unit 4 Tap Dance Practical Exam. This is to add to my ISTD Unit 4 Modern Theatre and ISTD Unit 5 Child Development Modules achieved in 2021. Currently working on my Unit 2 Teaching Practice, Unit 4 Classical Greek and Unit 4 Imperial Classical Ballet; once fully completed I will hold 4 Diplomas in Dance Education.

Happy New Year! 🥳
Focusing this year and self improvement and development. Looking for new challanges, big and small, to make positive changes to my every day.

We have the power to affect change. What we say can influence others and our ideas, if acted on, can create new standards for the future.

Who you are is your choice. Discover what makes you happy, then create the life you want by starting with yourself. We create moments everyday and those moments make up a life.

Everything starts somewhere. Habits, goals, dreams, plans. Don't fear starting if the result is something that makes you happy.

Setting boundaries is something I've been working on for a while now, and something I continue to struggle with. Understanding that setting boundaries, especially with friends and family, doesn't mean you don't love them, it means you respect and love yourself too. One aspect I find most challenging as a business owner is setting boundaries between my work and my personal life. Time is the most precious currency, investing time in my business is important and investing time in myself, in making memories must be valued also.

Everyone's self view is affected by so many different things; friends, family, society, culture, media, the list goes on. Letting outside influences affect how you view yourself is what holds you back. Get to know who you truly are.

Sometimes a hard truth to hear but it's no one else responsibility to push you towards your dreams. If there's something that you want for yourself you need to do the work and push yourself forwards.

The mentality that there is always room for improvement and that even your mistakes have value is a hard one to learn; I will admit that I am a bit of a control freak and perfectionist but I am trying every day to see the value in my process and no matter what to keep going.

Our perception is as unique as a fingerprint, and how we perceive different situations greatly impacts the outcome of those situations.
Imagine you try something new, and it doesn't work. Now that that has happened you can't change the outcome but you have a choice how you respond. You can dwell and obsess over the fact it didn't work and fear trying again or you can try to understand why it didn't work so that you can change the next outcome.

As humans we must adapt, change and evolve to truly live. Change can sometimes be hard to achieve, it takes a lot of courage to change something in your life. However, steady change can be harder still. You can feel like you are in the same place you were 2, 5 or even 10 years ago when you look at the big picture but look deeper at the small wins, challenges and milestones to see how far you've come.
Of these 3 pictures the first was taken of me 10 years ago, the second a year ago and the third just a few months ago. Same pose, same person, same passion but also so many changes!

An idea much like Disney's concept in 1940 producing 'Fantasia', many people have felt the creativity to 'see' music using colours, waveforms, spectrums and many more, combining the senses to create something new.

As dancers we create art with our bodies, new shapes and creations that are gone in a moment.

Dancing is communicating without words, the movement you create can express how you are thinking and feeling far more deeply than a conversation.

One of the main hurdles I see is the fear of moving, not knowing if you'll do it right, worrying how it might look. But Lynda Barr got it right "Any kind of dancing is better than no dance at all". Take a deep breath and move. Dance doesn't need to be perfect, it's constantly learning and evolving, but you just have to take that first step.

Having the confidence to go big in life is something I strive for. Whether it's trying something new or being unashamedly 'me' you've got to do it big and certainly do it with style. Having the confidence to trust yourself will always be right.

Preparations are underway, getting ready for the new term. Lots of new ideas and inspirations I want to explore. New term. New chapter. New excitement.

Placeholder Picture

As someone who is always wanting to learn new things and master new skills I must admit that I take for granted the gift of my situation where I have the chance to learn new things and immerse myself.

Placeholder Picture

Something I have to constantly remind myself. Currently challenging myself and learning new skills while I redecorate my home office space ready for a new term and hopefully new ideas and creativity.

Silencing your mind to hear your heart is one of the most challenging practices but can produce the most exhilarating results.

We are all guilty of this; working our bodies when we feel aches and pains, but our bodies are exceptional creations that need care and rest to thrive.
